receive a SMOKE TESTING notice?
-
Underground smoke testing is used to detect deficiencies in sewer pipes and the sewage system. Smoke testing is an effective way to (as well as low-cost) identify water infiltration sources, including roof downspouts, yard drains, slab drains, defective connections, and storm water drainage systems.
-
During the smoke test, you may see smoke coming out of grass, utility boxes, cracked pavement, or elsewhere.
If you see smoke INSIDE your home, please text 250-268-0056 immediately and include your name and address.
-
Homeowners are requested to pour water down all drains of plumbing fixtures in order to fill the P-traps. This helps prevent smoke from entering the house.
Homeowners do not need to be home during testing, but if you are and you have smoke appear indoors please alert us via text to 250-268-0056 and include your address & name
Lastly, please know that part of the testing is having our crew search for any smoke escaping and this means that they will be walking onto properties to look for leaks.

The smoke used during testing is nontoxic, but if smoke enters your home you may want to open a window or door to increase ventilation.
